SpeedUpTV App Reviews

Works!

Bought app for the main purpose of speeding up lectures I have to watch for school. Took a while to figure out how to speed up videos. Setting play speed does NOT work if u do Sidebar>Setting>Speed Setting. I wish there was a display bar clearly showing the play speed youre at and where u can choose to increase or decrease the play speed. BUT I found out that u can speed up you videos if you go to sidebar>settings> configure gestures>finger swipe. But other than that, I would have rated this app a 5! For me, finding an app that can save me half the time I would have had to take to watch lectures and one that allows me to watch lectures at 2x on my ipad is a life saver!! I mean I can now watch lecture on 2x and while I gym!! Or while on the bus! Total time saver! I havent tested this on the iphone yet tho. (Shame this only works on video lectures and not the voice captured lectures that accompany PDF slide shows, but thats not this apps fault...its the instructors...I wish more of them would realize/understand that students these days are overburdened with the amount of information out there and have to adapt by tightly budgeting their time...meaning if youre going to do a flipped classroom teaching style and make students watch like 3-9hours of pre-recorded lectures 2x a week before coming to class 2x a week to do a 1hr case discussions, its only fair they offer lectures that can be played at 2x or at least faster than 1x. I mean essentially the flipped class room model helps prepare the student better before they walk in the classroom but its not time efficient if the videos cant be played at 2x and thank god this app lets me do it with at least some of the pre recorded lectures!)

Not impressed.

Instructions for location services did not work. Also, why does it need locations service? Usability is confusing too. This was on my very old iPhone 4S iOS v8.1.3. :(

Great video player

Honestly one of the best iOS video players out there. There arent many with a built-in web browser and none that do it as beautifully as this one. One question, if this was built for WWDC15 why is there not a bookmark to view the live event?) Thanks for making this free!

Real timesaver

Havent used app a lot yet but am very pleased with it thus far. Customizable gestures took a bit to get used to but now find them to be quite handy (or you can simply change or disable if you choose). Great app and a real timesaver.

Fantastic app

The ability to control speed and zoom features on not only captured video but also downloaded video and streaming live YouTube video makes this app golden.

Impressed

Havent had much time to test, but Im already impressed with the quality of the app. I use "Speedup Player Pro" to listen to the audio of my recorded lessons in a faster rate, and though its fully functional, its not as polished as "SpeedUpTV". Edit. SpeedUpTV also supports audio files, so I fully migrated from "Speedup Player Pro". =] SpeedUpTV seems a very well developed app. Ill use it to watch video recorded lessons and come back with a more complete review.

Great Time Saver!!!

I watch a lot of video tutorials and podcasts and this app is fantastic for allowing you to speed up playback up to 2x to get through them faster. I also love the customizable gestures so you can easily fast forward or backward with a swipe. Since it supports many gestures I have configured 15 sec, 30 sec, and 2 minute fast forward and fast backward gestures which makes moving through a tutorial super efficient. This app was just what I needed and I couldnt find anything else like it in the App Store. Thank You!!!!!!

Awesome app

Excellent app, nice user interface. Easy to use. Gets the job done.

One of my most used apps

Very good app for what it does. I appreciate being able to play back tutorial videos faster than realtime. Speedup TV will let you playback synced videos or web videos (YouTube included) at any playback speed, including slow motion. Other nice features include gestures to quickly rewind/fast forward, adjust volume/brightness, and playback speed. I love the wifi sync feature. Id give it five stars but I wish it would have a better built in web browser. The browser doesnt have any history and often times when coming back to watch a partially viewed video from a day or so ago, I have to spend lots of time finding my previously loaded video.

Perfect, and not just for video.

I actually use it just as much for listening to audiobooks on MP3 as video, if not more (1.5x is my preferred audiobook speed). This rocks!

A essential tool for improvising musicians.

All the important features. Click all the buttons to learn the controls, since there doesnt seem to be a manual. Jim Gleason.

Nice app

Rly good job on app, but miss a audio delay setting.

Broken

Tedious UI aside, the latest update seems to have broken it. Nothing loads, nothing plays on iPad Air 2.

Very easy to use

I am very impressed with the ease of use and the features that are offered in this app. The sound comes across clean even at full 2X speed. It even works with Bluetooth earphones. I use this app almost every day to watch educational webinars.

Best in its class

Most comprehensive app of its kind in the App Store. The developers are great at getting back to their customers - which is a huge plus and something you dont always find. I purchased this app for studying, slowing down, and charting music. Very pleased!

Awesome!!!

I love the way this app allows me to check out music videos, full concerts, etc. on YouTube and near-seamlessly switch to other apps and keep the audio, then switch back. Thats wonderful, since theres so much more unique music content on YouTube than Spotify.

Need help with choppy sound

Great app! I have just one problem: I want to use the app to slow down videos on my mobile device, to help me follow fast speech in a couple of my foreign languages. Unfortunately when the video slows, even just a little, sound grows choppy and echo-like. This makes comprehension much more difficult. I have tried all the sound algorithm options and nothing changes. Am I missing something? Might you be able to fix this problem so that speech sounds more natural in slow motion? For example, on my computer I use a Chrome app "video speed controller" that slows speech without any echo or choppiness. Thanks for the help.

Finally found the video app Ive wanted

Plays, looks, acts and sound fabulous. Great features and no crashes. This is how a video app should work. Thanks!

Go to app for video

I have been using this app and the audio companion SpeedUp app since it was recommended several years ago (along with QuickReader) by Rich Schefren. I go through a lot of audio and video courses, which would take forever without the option to speed them up. The app works great for video loaded through iTunes File Sharing as well as YouTube videos. The ability to listen to the audio from the video while the device is locked allows me to listen to the content while doing chores or going for a run. Super useful app.

Great when it actually works

Lately Ive had tons of issues with this app. It stopped checking the clipboard and wont load any videos from the internet. The in app web browser is useless. It will play your video in the tiny side menu but it wont let you play it on the main screen or allow you to adjust the speed. Again, the copy and paste function does not work for this either. Completely unreliable. What a waste of my money.
